Chris Bakalanga

Chris is a singer and guitarist born in the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) based in Cape Town. He sings in English, French, Portuguese and Swahili and his music is a mix of pan african, world afro pop, Reggae, soul and Latin music with influence sounds from western and southern Africa.

Chris has worked in collaboration with different artists and groups in South Africa and globally such as: Jonathan Buttler, Playing for change, Hot water, Simphiwe Dhana, and many more.

He’s most recognized as the lead guitarist of “FRESHLYGROUND” where he has been part of the band for decade. And lead singer of ” The Congo Cowboys “, a band that has been formed with 4 members of freshly ground.

Chris’s music brings all the elements that make this country’s music legendary across the globe.
